Teaching
Our teaching internship is a three year program. Teaching interns will:
- Take at least two technique classes per week at their recommended level and participate in all performances associated with those classes.
- Assist with at least one class per week. The level of this class is based on which year the intern is at in the program.
- Learn the curriculum and ballet vocabulary for each level.
- Learn how to teach, demonstrate and correct steps and patterns for each level in a developmentally appropriate fashion.
- Develop a classroom management style that is effective for them.
- Assist with the dress rehearsal for their intern class, and check in with their students as able throughout the recital.
- Assist with other studio events as able.
Production Behind the Scenes
Our Production Behind the Scenes Interns learn what goes into making a winter ballet production happen. This internship runs from mid-May through the end of November. Our interns are involved in all aspects of the ballet production, including, but not limited to:
- Assisting with the auditions for the younger dancers
- Administrative work involved with casting. All casting decisions are made by Miss Zachari. Once casting is complete, interns will get insight into how roles were cast.
- Costuming: assigning costumes to dancers, creating an order for new costume pieces, basic costume repair
- Sets and props: preparing set and prop pieces for travel to the studio or theater, basic repair work
- Scheduling: how to develop a rehearsal schedule that gets all dancers at the studio when needed for their role
- Communication: what types of communication are needed for a production and the chance to create some of their own.
- Assisting with set up at the theater on tech rehearsal day and packing up after the final show.
- General assisting during the tech rehearsal and performance (only when it doesn't interfere with their part in the production)
Social Media
Our Social Media Interns learn how to create effective social media posts and campaigns for a business. Our interns will:
- Develop a familiarity with online design tools.
- Create different types of stand alone posts that relate to the studio.
- Create a cohesive social media campaign to promote an upcoming studio event.
- Learn the difference between organic and paid posts and campaigns, and how the two help each other.
Recital Behind the Scenes
Our Recital Behind the Scenes Interns learn what goes into making a spring recital happen. This internship runs from mid-November through mid-May. Our interns are involved in all aspects of the recital planning process, including, but not limited to:
- Choosing and ordering recital costumes.
- Developing a recital order: flow of the show, adequate time for costume changes, etc.
- Recital admin work: labeling costumes, assigning volunteers, loading things on Band, developing documents needed for rehearsal and recital days
- Scheduling: how to develop a rehearsal schedule that works for all dancers and keeps each dancer's theater time minimized
- Communication: learn what types of communication are needed for a recital and the chance to create some of their own.
- Assisting with set up at the theater on tech rehearsal day and packing up after the final show.
- General assisting during the tech rehearsal and performance (only when it doesn't interfere with their part in the recital)
