Summer Ballet Classes 2020
Summer ballet classes help dancers to keep up with their skills over the long break before the new dance season begins. They are also a great way for dancers new to ballet to get started!
|
Schedule is subject to change based on enrollment. Classes and Intensives with low enrollment may be combined. Register early and tell your friends!
We welcome dancers who are new to ballet and dancers looking for a new studio, as well as dancers who already have a home studio and want to supplement their ballet training while continuing their current classes.

WorkshopsWorkshops are a great way to dive into a specific skill, or take part in a class you wouldn't have time for during the school year.
For dancing workshops: Follow the studio dress code, but hair may be in a ponytail instead of a ballet bun, and dancers may wear shorts over their traditional ballet clothes. For other workshops: Please just dress modestly (no bra straps hanging out or vulgar sayings/pictures on t-shirts, etc). Dancing Workshops Dancing workshops are appropriate for ages 10 through adult. 1 Hour each, $10 Stretching and Strengthening Tuesday, June 23, 6 - 7 pm Thursday, June 11, 2 - 3 pm Review the stretches you already know and learn some new ones. Practice some easy exercises to help build core and leg strength while at home. Discuss ways you can use items around your house to help create a routine that works for you. Choreography 101: Part 1 Thursday, June 4, 2-3 pm Discuss the elements of creating a new dance step by step, including choosing music, how to pick steps, the importance of repetition, and use of space. We will also discuss ways to use your home environment to add interest to your dance. Choreography 101: Part 2 Thursday, June 18, 2-3 pm Dancers who complete Part 1 will create their own 30 sec to 1 minute dances and share them with the class. Each dancer will receive both teacher and peer feedback, including a chance to ask for suggestions on sections that aren't coming out the way they want. Turn Preparation Tuesday, June 9, 6-7 pm Since turning at home can be difficult depending on the type of flooring you have, this class will focus on a variety of exercises that will help improve your balance, spot and core, and lay the groundwork for both stationary and traveling turns. The Art of Port de Bras Tuesday, June 16, 6-7 pm Work on improving your arms as we go in depth on a variety of arm positions used in classical ballet. For each position we'll look at the shape of the arm, how they should be held in relationship to the rest of the body, and tips for perfecting them at home. Other Workshops All workshops are open to anyone the minimum age or older. The time and cost is listed next to each workshop. Craft and a Story, 45 minutes, $8 plus supplies Hear a ballet story and do a craft project connected to it. Dancers who register for this will receive a supply list at least 2 weeks in advance.
